You can now use it without a SideShow gadget!
SideAmp is a Windows SideShow gadget for Windows Vista and Windows 7 and also a display plug in for WinAmp
This gadget was created to display the current Song Title and Artist in SideShow along with the the Album's Cover. It also allows you to change to the next/previous song and also adjust the volume of WinAmp using SideShow controls. It also allows you to display the Current Song Information and Album in the SideBar as well.
It was initially designed to work with picoLCD USBLCD-4x20 by Mini-Box a USB based SideShow Display:

Using this you can not only display your current Title and Artist but you can also use
ANY IR Remote to skip to a random song on your playlist.
It should work just fine on just about any SideShow capable devices. BUT it does need a SideShow device to work!
Unless of course you use the non-sideshow version.

- First you need to have a SideShow Device set up.
- Once you install you need to go to SideShow in Control Panel and select what SideShows you want to display on.
- Next you just click on the SideAmp logo and it should start up.
READ: SideAmp DOES NOT go and pull your Album covers from the internet what it does is uses the
FOLDER COVER of the FOLDER your song is placed, this thing here:

This is then pulled and gives you this:

So if you keep getting "No Cover" that is why.
Also if it flashes the cover, or you get a red x flash, then that is a timing issue.
SideBar doesn't really like to give you access to things so i had to make a work around
and sometimes the timers don't line up, should be pretty rare occurrence though.

For best possible set up please do the following.
- It is a Windows SideShow gadget so it must run on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- First SideAmp is a SideShow Device program, though it has a SideBar capabilities.
- SIDEBAR SUPPORT WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT SIDESHOW GADGET RUNNING.
- It was designed for picoLCD USB 4x20 to use its IR Port.
- It is also compatible with SideShow emulator from Microsoft and also SideShow for Windows Mobile phones plus others.
- It is best if you have Winamp off at install time, if not you must restart Winamp.
- Once installed you MUST set permissions for SideBar to work.
- Go to: C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\SideAmp.gadget
- Right click on sideshowoutput.js, then properties, then Security at the top. Allow for Full Control (or at lest Modify and Write) Permissions to the user.
- Then go to C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\SideAmp.gadget\images\ and right click and do the same on background.jpg
- Maybe if you install as Admin you can skip that but i doubt it.
- Once you have permissions you can add the gadget to the sidebar like any other gadget.
- (If you don't set permissions it will just say to Restart Winamp, and the Flyout will tell you about permissions)
- Then make sure you have a SideShow device running and run SideAmp like any other device
- ** If it keeps saying Winamp Connection Problem you need to install ActiveWinamp **
- ActiveWinamp Location: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/143299
- If it comes up with a INSTALL ERROR when you install ActiveWinamp JUST HIT IGNORE, and it will work.
- Also it takes up a bit more RAM than i would like, but this is because of how it gets and
saves Albums for the SideBar It takes the cover, and saves it in the sidebar area every like second or so.
Thats a lot of saving, If you know of a better way then please let me know.

Please read all of the above, if you have any questions please contact me.

Dont have SideShow? Thats fine! Download the SideBar only version!
Installs just like the plain SideAmp but without all the SideShow parts! About half the RAM print as well
You still must change the permissions just like the regular SideShow.
